Biography

Ruy Barbosa Barceló is a Chilean motorcycle racer specializing in enduro, cross-country, and rally raid, born on December 4, 1998. He is known as one of the most promising Latin American riders of his generation.

Barbosa began riding motorcycles at a very young age, starting with motocross and then moving on to enduro. At 17, he decided to move to Europe to compete against the best riders and hone his skills.

In 2018, he won the EnduroGP Youth 125cc World Championship, becoming the first Chilean rider in history to achieve this title. This success marked a turning point in his career and propelled him onto the international stage.

During the 2020–2021 pandemic, Ruy Barbosa moved to the United States to compete in the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Championship, one of the most demanding cross-country championships in the world. Despite a difficult start, he progressed rapidly and, in 2022, finished 3rd in the XC2 (250cc) class, the best result ever for a Latin American rider in this series.

In 2022, Barbosa also became a double Latin American Enduro Motorcycle Champion in the E1 and Junior categories of the FIM Latin American Enduro Motorcycle Championship.

Following his progress in GNCC and enduro, Barbosa turned his attention to rally raid, with the stated goal of competing in the Dakar Rally. He participates in cross-country rally competitions (W2RC), where he has achieved solid results and accumulated experience on varied terrains.
